The votes are in and the Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge has won.
The group announced it beat out hundreds of organizations across the country to win a major grant from the Livestrong Foundation.
Livestrong offered $1.2 million in funding for groups focused on bringing support programs to cancer patients, survivors and their families.
The grant will help fund the "Art Is Good Medicine" program, where professional artists of all kinds visit cancer patients and help them cope with their challenge.

A local arts council is in the running for a grant from the Livestrong Foundation and they need your help.
The Pitt County Arts Council's "Art is Good Medicine" program helps cancer survivors deal with the stresses of treatment through artistic expression. The program is a finalist for the Livestrong Foundation Community Impact Project.
The Community Impact Project is offering $1.2 million in funding to bring cancer support programs to communities across the U.S. Finalists will be determined through an online voting campaign that runs through 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. You can CLICK HERE TO VOTE.
Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge is among hundreds of organizations still in the running for the award. If selected, they'll use the funds to continue their Art is Good Medicine Program at Vidant Health and the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center.
