GREENVILLE, N.C. -

East Carolina won the school's first ever postseason tournament game as the Pirates slipped by Savannah State, 66-65 in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

Maurice Kemp scored 21 points and hauled down nine rebounds in the win. Miguel Paul scored all ten of his points in the second half.

East Carolina didn't lead in the game until the final minute, when Paul hit a three-pointer with 42.6 seconds to play to give ECU a 64-63 advantage.

Savannah State retook the lead on a Rashad Hassan lay up to make it 65-64. Paul then drained two free throws for the final margin.

The Tigers had the final possession, but failed to get off a shot.

East Carolina will now host a second game in the CIT. That opponent will be named after the first round of the tournament is complete tomorrow night.
