2 die in single-car wreck in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. -

A single-vehicle wreck left two men dead late Tuesday night in Raleigh, according to officials.

Officials say that the wreck happened on Nowell Road, near Trinity and Chapel Hill Roads in Raleigh. The car, a 2006 Acura driven by Lawrence George Bloomer, 43, of Raleigh, hit a tree. Kody Russell Bressman, 25, of Cary, was ejected from the car on impact and Bloomer was pinned in the car. Both men died.

The accident report shows that Raleigh police estimate Bloomer was driving at approximately 95 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone and lost control on a curve and hit the tree at a speed of 85 miles per hour.

Police suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but are still awaiting results.

The two deaths brought the total number of deaths on Chapel Hill Road to three on Tuesday alone.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
