HALIFAX, N.C. -
Nearly $2 million and 40 jobs are coming to Halifax County.
Governor Pat McCrory and N. C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Mehrrin River Forest Products will take over an unused Halifax County sawmill.
Mehrrin River Forest Products makes hardwood lumber. Right now the company has a production plant in Alberta, Virginia.
The jobs coming to Halifax County will have various salaries, but the average annual pay will be over $30,000 a year plus benefits.
A performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund helped bring this company to the state. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to help bring in business projects to create new jobs.
