Fire crews in Pitt county are investigating a trailer fire that claimed the life of a man.
It happened around 5:30 Wednesday evening off Highway 43 South at Shelmerdine.
Part of the road was shut down for several hours while crews were on scene.
The trailer was destroyed. Emergency management, firefighters, and the Pitt County Sheriff's Office are trying to figure out what started the fire.
They still have not released the name of the victim.
We did talk to neighbors who knew the man. They say he was a very nice guy. They tell us he'd been living there for more than 30 years. They say he has two daughters and a son.
