CARY, N.C. -
Cary police are looking into whether a fire on Southwest Cary Parkway was intentionally set.
Thursday night's fire spread beneath a ravine, forcing crews to shut down the westbound lane of Cary Parkway from Lake Pine Drive to Two Creeks Road.
Officials said the fire was man-made but could not determine if it was done intentionally. However, the culvert is compromised and must be replaced by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a process that could take several weeks.
As of Friday afternoon, east-bound SW Cary Parkway is open for one-way traffic but westbound Cary Parkway is closed from Lake Pine Drive to Two Creeks Road. Motorists are being detoured to Tryon Road.
