Pirates to host Loyola in CIT quarterfinals

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

East Carolina will host Loyola for the first time in school history in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

The Pirates are facing their second straight opponent from the MAAC. ECU's previous opponent Rider, tied with Loyola for second-place in the MAAC.

East Carolina has won a school record 15 games at home this season, posting an 10-1 record against non-conference opponents. The Pirates have won five of their last six home games with their only loss coming to Southern Miss in overtime.


Loyola owns a 7-7 road ledger this season, which included a 4-4 mark in non-conference play.

ECU is 11-7 all-time against current members of the MAAC (Canisius 0-1; Iona 1-1; Manhattan 1-1; Rider 1-0; St. Peter's 5-4; Fairfield 3-1).

Coach Jeff Lebo is making his fourth trip to the postseason as a head coach. He led Tennessee Tech and Auburn to the NIT before directing the Pirates into the 2011 CIT. He owns a 7-3 postseason head coaching record.


•The Pirates are facing their third straight opponent which ranks among the top 20 in the NCAA in 3-point field goal defense. Savannah State ranked first, Rider was eighth and Loyola is 19th.
•Senior Miguel Paul is seven assists shy of becoming the third player in school history with 400 career helpers.
