Teachers aide, ex- NC State athlete faces sex charges

RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Leesville Road High School teacher's assistant has been charged with four counts of having sex with a student.

Authorities arrested Javon Walker Monday, and he was placed in jail under a $200,000 secured bond.

The victim in this case is a 17-year-old girl. Officials tell WNCN the offenses did not happen on school property.

Walker was hired on Sept. 19, 2012 and resigned Monday.

Wake County Schools tells WNCN, teacher's assistants at the high school level are assigned to special education classes.

Students at the high school told WNCN they often saw Walker attending to the special needs students.

Officials could not say if the girl involved was a special ed student.

Walker is also a former football player for N.C. State, having played from 2007 to 2009.
