GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Thousands of gallons of wastewater spills into a Greenville subdivision.

Greenville Utilities discovered it around 12:30 Monday afternoon in the Moyewood neighborhood on Conley Street. Crews say it was the result of a sewer pipe failure. A fitting shifted out of place on a 10-inch force main.

13,370 gallons of wastewater spilled into the lowland area and tributary to the Tar River.

Greenville Utilities workers cleaned up the spill by 4:30pm.

The force main is also back in service.
