GREENVILLE, N.C. – William & Mary pounded out 19 hits and got multi-hit performances from five players en route to a 10-4 win over East Carolina Tuesday afternoon at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the win the Tribe improves to 17-8 on the season, while the Pirates fall to 11-14.

The Tribe scored a pair of runs in the first frame taking an early 2-0 lead. Ryan Brown and Ryan Lindemuth recorded back-to-back one-out singles and crossed home on Charley Gould's single and Ryan Hissey's double with two outs.

Matt Wainman (3-2) picked up the win allowing a pair of runs (both unearned) on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work. John Sheehan surrendered a pair of runs (both earned) on two hits in three innings of relief and Mitchell Aker tossed a scoreless ninth.

Tyler Bolton (0-2) dropped his second-straight start giving up two runs (both earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings. ECU would use four more hurlers in Andy Smithmyer (3.2 IP, 4 R, 3 ER), Brett Mabry (1.2 IP, 3 R, 3 ER), Dylan Dickens (0.1 IP, 0 R), and Justin Taylor (1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER) over the final 6.2 frames.

William & Mary scored two more runs in the fourth extending its lead to 4-0. With the bases loaded and one out, William Shaw sent a grounder to first where Chase McDonald fielded the ball and threw over to second trying to turn a double play. Jack Reinheimer recorded the out at second and threw over to Smithmyer covering the bag but he missed the throw allowing Brown to score from second on the error after Jonathan Sarty scored the first run of the frame.

ECU cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth making it a two-run game, 4-2. Chris Gosik drew a walk to start the stanza and moved over to third when Bryan Bass reached on a throwing error by Shaw on his bunt down the third base line. Travis Watkins' sac fly to center scored Gosik and two batters later Bass darted home on Dylan Brown's single to right field.

An RBI single by Gould to left center scored Sarty and a sac fly to right field plated Lindemuth in the top of the sixth, pushing the Tribe's lead back to four at 6-2. William & Mary would score three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth capping its day with 10 runs.

Ben Fultz' bases loaded sac fly in the eighth scored Brown and Drew Reynolds' pinch hit single through the left side pushed across McDonald for the final two Pirate runs.

Gould, Hissey, Lindemuth and Sarty each collected three hits for the Tribe, while Derek Lowe added a pair. Brown was the lone Pirate to record multiple hits, while Jay Cannon saw his 13-game hit streak come to an end with a 0-for-3 performance at the dish.

The Pirates will be back in action Wednesday, Mar. 26 when they travel to Elon, N.C. for a midweek tilt against the Phoenix at 4 p.m. (ET). Freshman Nick Durazo (LHP) will take the mound for ECU, while Jacob Barker (RHP) will toe the rubber for Elon.
