GREENVILLE, N.C. -

All East Carolina University teams will join the soon-to-be renamed Big East Conference.

The university made the official announcement Wednesday the school will be a part of the league in all sports, beginning July 1, 2014.

ECU accepted a bid late last year to join the Big East as a football-only member in 2014. Chancellor Steve Ballard told 9 On Your Side then, that we would eventually be apart of the new conference in all sports he was just waiting on the official word from the conference.

The Pirates will continue to play in Conference USA until then.

"East Carolina University is delighted to play all sports in this conference," said ECU Chancellor Steve Ballard.
