Sunrise meeting sheds light on Craven 30

Posted: Updated:

Folks in Craven County are one step closer to seeing a major shopping and residential complex come to life.

Construction is set to begin this summer for Craven 30, a 550-acre development site near U.S. 70 and Highway 43.

Real estate company Weyerhaeuser made the announcement to several business leaders Thursday morning. The company says in several years, Craven 30 will have restaurants, shops, hotels, and a medical office park.

But the first things they expect to build are the patio homes, town homes, and apartments.

"I've been doing this all my life. I think Craven 30 is probably my swan song. And I'm looking forward to seeing things become reality after working on it for the last eight years," said Taylor Downey, Weyerhaeuser Operations Manager.

Weyerhaeuser says it'll be several years before construction is finished on Craven 30.
