New Destiny Church holds community Easter egg hunt

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Dozens of kids and their families in Greenville hit the grass looking for treats.

New Destiny Pentecostal Holiness Church held their annual Easter egg hunt.

This year, the Greenville church opened up the celebration to the entire community.

The church treated kids and the families to food, desserts, and an egg hunt.

Discipleship ministries director, Denise Swanner, says it's about more than the festivities.

"Whether it's a story inside the Easter egg, or it's just the fellowship through our church family here at New Destiny. We hope that it imparts to them that it is a celebrating time of year, and that it puts us out of all the other things that are going on, and you have good time for a few hours during the day," said Swanner.

Swanner says they plan to keep the traditional alive and will to do it again next year.
