Update: 3 killed in 95 car pileup identified

Posted: Updated:

A Duke Law student and a North Carolina native are among the three victims of a chain-reaction crash involving nearly 100 vehicles in Virginia.

The victims were identified Monday as 33-year-old William Sosebee of Kentucky, 24-year-old Andrew Katbi of Ohio, and 71-year-old Kathern Worley of Iron Station, North Carolina.

Police say Sosebee and Worley were passengers in different vehicles that struck the same tractor-trailer. Katbi, a Duke Law student, was the driver of another vehicle that rear-ended a tractor-trailer.

Investigators say 95 vehicles were involved in 17 separate crashes within a mile span near the North Carolina state line Sunday afternoon. 25 other people were injured in the pileup.
