WINTERVILLE, N.C. -

Sunday's weather didn't stop the Easter excitement for kids wanting to get their hands on some candy. There's a new way of doing it that's growing in popularity.

9 on your Side joined the kids as they hunted down flying Easter eggs.

Hundreds of kids rushed to get their hands on thousands of Easter eggs at new beginnings church in Greenville.

The church dropped more than 15,000 candy filled eggs at their Wilson and Greenville churches.

Before the eggs could be dropped from the helicopter they first had to be loaded up and ready to go.

"It was fun because it dropped all the eggs down," said Lihana Martinez.

"The helicopter just came down and then just started throwing Easter eggs everywhere and it was really cool to see," said Chloe Martinez.

Kids and parents say Easter is about more than hunting down colorful oval shapes.

"Knowing that God like risen for us and saved our lives," said Campbell,

"At the end of the day to see the smiles on the kids' faces, and to see them to walking with a whole bag full of eggs. It definitely makes all the planning and all the energy worth it," said Senior Pastor Israel Campbell.
