North Carolina's Highway Patrol issued over 13,000 speeding tickets during their latest campaign.
‘Operation Slow Down' ran from March 25th to the 31st as state troopers focused on reducing speed related crashes on the highways. The Highway Patrol says that speed remains the leading cause of fatal accidents in the state. In the 1,801 fatal accidents troopers investigated last year, 245 deaths were attributed to speed.
In total over 26,000 traffic citations were issued with 13,667 of those being speed related. Below is the full breakdown of charges.
