Fayetteville police investigating early morning car crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police responded to an On-Star distress signal coming from a car that struck a tree early Wednesday morning near Sherman Drive and Blake Street and found the victim dead on the scene.

Officials have only said that the victim was a male and that the injuries appeared to be self-inflicted.

Traffic investigators and detectives are on scene and an investigation is ongoing.  

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  Anyone with any information is about this incident is asked to call the watch commander's office at 910-433-1830 or the major crimes bureau at 910-433-1856.
