Truck involved in Tampa boys kidnapping found

Posted: Updated:
MADEIRA BEACH, FL (WFLA) -

The 2006 GMC Pick-up truck involved in the Tampa Amber Alert has been found in the parking garage on John's Pass in Madeira Beach late Thursday evening.

Deputies believe this truck belongs to Joshua Hakken who they say kidnapped his two sons Cole and Chase. Investigators told us, he broke into the boys' grandmother's house, tied her up and grabbed the kids. They fled in the grandmother's Camry.

Authorities think his wife Sharyn Hakken joined them later, they ditched the Camry and took off in Joshua's pick-up truck.

Law enforcement offices in Florida, Louisiana and Tennessee, where police said somebody saw the truck on Thursday, all issued missing children and Amber Alerts to help find the boys.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies and forensics specialists arrived to the parking garage late Thursday night. They said they received a tip about the truck's location.

Investigators could not properly process the scene at first as the clearance to get into the garage is seven feet and the forensic unit truck is taller than that.

Forensics specialists processed the GMC in the parking garage. A tow truck took it back to Hillsborough County. HCSO will impound it and continue to process it for evidence.

Authorities say they will release more updated information after 8 a.m. Friday. Stay with WFLA.com for more details on this developing story.
