Tampa Metro YMCA Hosts Free Swim Clinics for 2013 Swim Across America

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Summer is around the corner and so is swimming season!  Are you ready?  If not, the Tampa Metro YMCA is teaming up with Swim Across America and offering free swim clinics.

Registration for the 2013 Swim Across America Tampa Bay event allows access to free two-hour swim clinics being held at Tampa area YMCA locations.

In addition, those registered for the 2013 Swim Across America – Tampa Bay will also be given free access to the pool of all YMCA locations within Hillsborough County (proof of 2013 Swim Across America Tampa Bay registration and a driver's license/ID is required).  But you better hurry, this promotion will expire on Friday, May 17, 2013.

The Tampa Bay chapter of Swim Across America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events, will hold its second-annual open-water fundraising swim benefiting Moffitt Cancer Center at 8:30 a.m. May 18 at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach, 7 Causeway Blvd., Clearwater Beach.  Last year's SAA – Tampa Bay Swim raised $100,000 for Moffitt, and the group is committed to doubling that this year.

Three-time Olympic champion Brooke Bennett will serve as honorary chair of the event.

To register for the swim, visit SwimAcrossAmerica.org/tampabay. Follow the swim on Twitter: @SAA_TB or Facebook:facebook.com/swimacrossamerica

Registration for the swim clinics is not necessary. Attendees are asked to bring their 2013 Swim Across America – Tampa Bay registration and a driver's license/ID to the clinic.
