JAMES CITY, N.C. -

A Waffle House restaurant is back open after deputies surrounded and blocked it off early Wednesday morning.

Craven County deputies were called to the Waffle House on US 70 in James City around 5 o'clock for a disturbance.

Captain Joe Heckman tells 9 On Your Side a mentally unstable man came into the restaurant and began breaking light fixtures before pulling out a weapon and threatening employees.

It took the swat team an hour-and-a-half to get the man out of the bathroom where he had barricaded himself naked.

Deputies have admitted the man to the hospital. They say he could be facing charges.
