If you're interested in breaking a sweat for a good cause, you should check out the 3rd Annual Bulldog Run at Pitt Community College.

9 On Your Side is proud to co-sponsor the 5K race, 1 Mile Fun Run and Kids Dash this Sunday, April 14, 2013 on PCC's campus.  All money raised from the event will go to student scholarships and educational activities at PCC.

PCC Alumni Relations Dir. Ashley Smith visited Morning Edition to tell us how students benefit the most from the Bulldog Run.  When talking about the hard economic times facing students who want to get a good education but can't afford it, Smith said, "We see the students that it affects and it kind of tears at your heart strings and really makes you want to do more for them because they really are going through life and accomplishing so much and sometimes they just need a little extra help."

The 5K race starts Sunday at 2p.m. with the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and Kids Dash to follow.  There will be a post-race party and awards ceremony.

Participants can pre-register online or on race day.  For more event information, visit the PCC website here: http://pccbulldogrun.com/
