A Greenville man was arrested after police say they found counterfeit money on him.

Greenville Police IMPACT (Increased Mobilization of Police And Communities Together) Officers spotted 21-year-old Dion Leshawn Grimes while on patrol. They attempted to stop and talk to him in the Sterling Pointe Apartment Complex.

Police say Grimes ran from them around a building and tried to hide counterfeit currency. They say 31 counterfeit twenty dollar bills and 15 counterfeit ten dollar bills were seized. The bills all had different serial numbers on them.

Police notified Secret Service and charged Grimes with possession/transportation of 5+ counterfeit instruments. He's being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.
