Greenville Police investigating man's death

Police say they're investigating a man's death in Greenville.

The call came in between 9:30 - 10 a.m. Thursday.

Officers tell 9 On Your Side 21-year-old David William Clifton was last seen alive around 1 a.m.  They say he was seen asleep on a couch at a residence on East 11th Street.  When friends tried to wake him up this morning, they discovered he wouldn't wake up.

His family has been notified and they're on their way from New Bern.

The medical examiner has been notified and Clifton's body will be taken for an autopsy.

Police are going through normal death investigation procedures.  Forensics and major crimes detectives on scene.

There are no signs of foul play.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. We'll have more details as they become available.
