2 families displaced by overnight fires

POLLOCKSVILLE, N.C. -

Two families are out of their homes after both homes catch fire.
     
It happened Wednesday night in Jones County.

The sheriff's office tells 9 On Your Side the first one happened on 10-mile-Fort Road in Pollocksville close to 6 p.m.
     
Investigators say a cooking fire got out of hand and burned most of the roof.
     
There were no injuries.
     
Firefighters had that scene clear by 8.
     
The 2nd fire started in a duplex on Island Creek Road around 10 p.m.
     
The family was able to get out in time.
     
Investigators think that one started in a bedroom.
     
It's still under investigation.
