Dawkins to return for senior year at Duke

Posted: Updated:
DURHAM, N.C. -

Duke's Andre Dawkins announced on Twitter that he will return for his senior season after redshirting this season due to personal reasons.

Dawkins sent out a series of Tweets Thursday confirming his return.

"Excited to say that I will be a part of the 2013-2014 Duke Men's Basketball Team. Thanks to everyone for the support throughout the year," Dawkins tweeted.

Dawkins said it was tough for him to be away but he has grown and is ready to help Duke win.

Dawkins continued with, "I have changed my number to 34 in part of my admiration of Ray Allen and all that he's done in his career primarily shooting the basketball"

Dawkins will compete for time with senior Tyler Thornton, junior Quinn Cook, sophomore Rasheed Sulaimon and incoming freshman Matt Jones.
