Fayetteville police investigating shootings

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police are investigating two shootings that occurred early Friday morning and left one man dead.

Police responded to the 5400 block of S. Sumac Circle at approximately 5:45 a.m. to investigate a dead unidentified male near the shoulder of the road. When officers arrived, they determined the man had sustained a gunshot wound.

Fayetteville police identified the victim as 20-year-old Xavier White.

The death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police are also looking into a shooting that took place on Martha Court at approximately 3:45 a.m. Officers arrived on scene and found a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and was pronounced dead later Friday.
