Hakkens plead not guilty

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Joshua and Sharyn Hakken have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.  The couple is accused of abducting their children, Cole and Chase, from their grandmother's home last Wednesday.  The couple then headed to Madeira Beach, boarded a sailboat and sailed off to Cuba.  Cuban authorities alerted the state department when they arrived, and a U.S. Department of Justice plane flew them back to Tampa.

The Hakkens face numerous charges including kidnapping and child neglect.  They were not in court for this morning's arraignment hearing.  Judge Chet Tharpe also signed an order that they be held without bond while the case makes its way through the judicial system.  Their next court date is scheduled for May 30th.
