DURHAM, N.C. -

A brief lockdown of North Carolina Central University's was lifted after the campus was given an "all clear."

NCCU's campus was on lockdown for about 25 minutes "following a reported incident in a residence hall."

Campus Police say there was an attempted armed robbery in Eagleson Residence Hall on the campus around 1:08 p.m. Friday.

The suspect fled and the campus was subsequently put on lockdown while the incident was investigated.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a T-shirt with faded blue shorts and dreadlocks.

Police say there was also a report of a gunman in Mary Townes Science Complex, but that report was unfounded.
