BEULAVILLE, N.C. -

Police arrested a substitute teacher after they say she embezzled thousands from Beulaville Elementary School.

Monday Beulaville Police arrested Donna Godbold after an investigation into inconsistencies in the Parent Teacher Organization's  bank account. They found that Godbold had access to the organization's credit card and had been using it for personal purchases. In total she's accused of stealing $6,913.30 from the PTO.

Beulaville Police Chief Joey Carter tells 9 On Your Side that they believe Godbold had been making personal purchases over the past year. Along with volunteering at the school, Chief Carter says she was a substitute teacher and bus driver.

Monday police charged her with embezzlement, obtaining property under false pretense, and financial card fraud. Godbold was released on a $25,000 bond. She is scheduled to be in court on April 19th for her first appearance.

Beulaville Police partnered with the SBI for this investigation.
