DH Conley gets revenge, beats rival JH Rose 13-9

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

The DH Conley Vikings (16-1) held on for a big win over cross-town rival JH Rose (11-6) on Wednesday. Sophomore Peyton Ahlers, called up for his first ever varsity game, was on the mound for Conley in their 16th win of the season.

About a month ago the Rampants traveled to Conley and gave their rivals their only loss of the season in a 1-0 game. Conley got revenge Wednesday at Guy Smith Stadium in a 13-9 victory.

This one was a blowout early. Bryant Packard was driving in runs left and right as Rose starter Kevin Randolph struggled on the bump. It was 6-0 after 2 innings.

But in the 4th inning Rose turned it around. DH JD Clark hit a grand slam in a 6 run 4th inning. The score was 9-9 going into the 6th.

Conley tacked on 2 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to win 13-9.

It was a big win for Coach Jason Mills' ball club. He says these rivalry games always mean a little bit more and recalls being on the other side of a fair share of losses against legendary Coach Ronald Vincent.
