New beer factory opens in Jones County

Posted: Updated:

More than 100 people celebrated the opening of Beer Army Combat Brewery in Trenton Friday afternoon.

It's expected to become a major landmark as the first beer factory in Jones County.

Dustin Canestorp, the owner, says he's had this dream since 2008. He's an active duty Marine who's always wanted to marry his two passions of entrepreneurship and beer.

The owner expects the company to have a $2.7 million impact to the area in the next 5 years. The brewery is expected to create 18 to 24 new jobs in the next three to five years.

And despite Trenton's small population of less than 300, he says it was the perfect spot to open shop.

"Trenton really just, I mean they really embraced us. They had this great facility we're standing in today. It's a great facility. It was vacant, nobody had ever been there before. They gave us economic incentive with a revolving loan program, which definitely helped," said Canestorp.

The owner says a portion of the profits will go to local volunteer fire departments and Brocks Mill, a local landmark.
