Volunteers search new area for missing soldier

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Volunteers are working to cover more ground in the search for missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux. Bordeaux disappeared just more than a year ago, after leaving the Froggy Bottoms bar off Ramsey Street in Fayetteville.

On Saturday, TMC K-9 SAR Team, a grass-roots search and rescue team, searched the woods in the area where Bordeaux was last seen. In addition to covering ground by foot they also used dogs with special search training.

A geographical profiler mapped out the area months ago, and so far the volunteers say only about ten percent has been searched.

"I'm never going to give up hope," said Chris Sayre, the group's executive director. "'However we find her, wherever we find here, somebody knows where she is, and all we want to do is help bring her home."

The search team will also be out Sunday and next weekend – April 27 and 28. They will organize in the parking lot of the Food Lion grocery store on Andrews Road. They would like more volunteers with all-terrain vehicles Sayre said.
