Memorial held for 7 Marines killed in Nevada blast

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -

Flags flew at half staff as a memorial took place Tuesday at Camp Lejeune to honor the seven Marines killed during a training exercise in Nevada.

The seven Marines died last month when a mortar shell exploded in its firing tube at Hawthorne Army Depot.

The Marine Corps has since put a temporary ban on the mortars until they can figure out exactly what went wrong.

The blast also wounded seven Marines and a Sailor.

Governor Pat McCrory attended the memorial and ordered all state flags fly at half staff Tuesday.
