Craven County announces “Teacher of the Year”

Posted: Updated:

Craven County announced its 2013 "Teacher of the Year" on Monday.  Mr. Ike Smith, an English teacher at Craven Early College, earned the honor.

Mr. Smith now moves on to compete with other award recipients from the Southeast Region of the state.  Once at that level, one teacher will be selected as the 2013 Teacher of the Year for the state of North Carolina.

In his role, Mr. Smith will serve as the local advisor to the Board of Education and will represent Craven County Schools in several different community and civic events.  Pecheles Honda of New Bern also partnered with the system, and provided Mr. Smith with a 2013 Honda Civic that he will be able to drive for the next year.
