Elmhurst 5th grader a "math master"

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

A 5th grader from Elmhurst Elementary has proven herself to be a math master.

Cindy Zhu was the overall winner from Group 1 of Pitt County Schools' Math Masters Competition.

The event is taking place Thursday and Friday at Harvey Hall in the Murphy Center.

180 kids (from 10 schools) competed today. Another 180 (from the other 10 schools) will compete tomorrow as part of Group 2.

Each student is competing for the top prize of Math Masters Champion. They're selected after taking a qualifying test. 

Math Masters is designed for students to succeed academically and be instrumental in the learning process. Read more about it on the official FAQ here.
