Reddick Jr and Highsmith sign, Vikings draft Bond

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Three Eastern North Carolina natives are on NFL teams after the final day of the NFL Draft.

New Bern native Kevin Reddick Junior was signed by the Saints on Saturday night. The standout linebacker from the University of North Carolina was suppose to be drafted somewhere in rounds 3 through 6. Instead the former New Bern Bear signed as a free agent with New Orleans. In the 2012 season the senior had 85 total tackles and 6 and 1/2  sacks. Reddick Jr was rated as the best available player for most of round 7 on ESPN.com.

Reddick Junior's teammate, Erik Highsmith also signed as an undrafted free-agent. The star wide receiver from West Craven High School signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night.

But they weren't the only Tar Heels from the east that are now on NFL teams. Travis Bond from Bertie High School was selected in round 7 of Saturday's NFL draft. The North Carolina Tar Heel was an honorable mention for All-ACC, playing at the offensive guard position.

And he may not be from Eastern North Carolina, but ECU Pirate Michael Brooks also signed as a free-agent Saturday. The nose-tackle signed with the Detroit Lions.
