Beware of the bears! - WNCT

Beware of the bears!

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

It's that time of year again. It's migrating season for bears.

Wildlife Officials say don't be surprised if you spot one in your back yard in the next few weeks.

Sometimes they'll cross city lines and get confused. Already last week, animal control officers say a mother bear and her cubs were spotted in between 10th and 14th Street in Greenville.

If you happen to come face to face with one, wildlife officials say you should make noise, talk, yell, and clap your hands to scare them off.

Wildlife officials say it's also a good idea to store garbage and pet food inside. And try your best not to form large crowds. The animals can be fun to watch, but large groups of people can cause bears to behave unpredictably.
