NC House Republican frustrated about Tillis

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

A social conservative in the North Carolina House has publicly expressed frustration with Speaker Thom Tillis and other Republican leaders over how they've handled some legislation.

A video posted online of a recent speech by GOP Rep. Larry Pittman of Concord shows him complaining to the audience that two gun rights bills he introduced sit in committee. One bill would lay out how principals and teachers could bring legal concealed weapons to school.

Pittman said some bills have been put on hold because Tillis is planning to run for U.S. Senate next year and they would hurt his chances. Tillis hasn't announced plans about a statewide bid.

Pittman declined to comment about the video Tuesday. A Tillis spokesman says lots of people's bills haven't been heard, including the speaker's.
