A Fuquay-Varina man was arrested late Tuesday night in the murder of James Jolly.
Richard Brandon Gregory, 28, was arrested and charged in the murder of his 64-year-old stepfather that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Jolly was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon in his home at 108 Coley Farm Road.
His house sits between two sections of the Summerdale subdivision, where folks have been organizing a neighborhood watch.
The murder has residents in the neighborhood near the home pushing to finish the establishment of a neighborhood watch.
Organizer Matt Scruggs says Jolly's murder gives new urgency to their attempts.
Another organizer says the neighborhood watch would help deal with trouble in the area.
"You have random acts of violence all around and it becomes an issue. Where are these random acts of violence happening? Like down the road? Maybe about a block or two down the road in the project or apartment area down that way," said Minister Howard Clemens.
Gregory is in Wake County jail awaiting his first appearance in court.
