Police: Distracted driver collides with school bus in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, N.C. -

Plymouth police are investigating an accident involving a pickup truck and a school bus.

Officers tell 9 On Your Side the accident happened a little after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Wilson St. and Campbell St.

Police say the school bus was stopping and a man driving a truck got distracted and slid into the back of it. Police say he may have been looking down just before the accident.

We're told about 20 kids were on that bus headed to Pines Elementary School. No one was injured in the accident.

Police say there was minor damage to the bus and more damage was done to the truck.

No charges have been filed yet. This investigation is ongoing.
