Duke Energy meeting will be last Rogers leads

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

Duke Energy Corp. is holding its last annual shareholders meeting with long-time CEO Jim Rogers in charge.

The meeting Thursday in Charlotte will be the last time Rogers discusses recent profits and prospects for the months ahead. He'll retire by the end of the year from the country's largest electricity company.

Investors will want to hear about the status of the Charlotte-based company's requested rate increase in North Carolina. A rate increase that took effect last year could be rolled back after the state Supreme Court ruled regulators did not properly consider its effect on customers.

Greenpeace and state advocacy group NC WARN wants Rogers to push Duke Energy to generate much more of its electricity from solar and other forms of renewable energy.
