Two businesses within a few miles of each other were robbed at gunpoint in Kinston Wednesday night. And police are trying to figure out who was behind it.

Kinston Police said around 6:30 p.m. last night a gunman robbed the Dollar General on West Vernon Avenue. They described him as wearing a dark colored hoodie, dark jeans and blue bandana covering his face.

Officers said he took cash out of the register before running away.

Then, just after 11 o'clock last night, a gunman came in the Kangaroo Express on Hwy 258 North threatened the clerk and ran away with stolen cash.

No one was injured in either case.
