Undercover drug operation near ECU owned park nabs 7

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Seven men are behind bars, accused of possessing and selling psychotic drugs near a park owned by East Carolina Unviersity.

State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents said they seized large quantities of Adderall, Oxycodone, MDMA and marijuana in the bust. They also seized drug paraphernalia such as glass pipes, water bongs, and grinders, and confiscated materials used for indoor marijuana growing operations.  

Complaints of drug sales near the campus of East Carolina University prompted the six-month investigation. 

"The Department of Public Safety is aggressively pursuing drug cases such as this one in Greenville," said DPS Secretary Kieran Shanahan.  "Working with other law enforcement agencies, our goal is to protect the community from the harmful effects of illegal drugs."

"Cooperation between our agencies has resulted in improving the safety of this community," said Pitt County ABC Chief J.M. Sasser.  "The illegal sale of controlled substances has become a growing problem in the Greenville area." 

Arrested as part of the investigation were: 

  • Dillon Michael Sivulka, 19, of Greenville, was charged with five counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver MDMA, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, five counts of maintaining a dwelling for drug activity and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.  Sivulka's secured bond was set at $500,000. 

 

  • Andrew Douglas Everhart, 24, of Greenville, was charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver Adderall, three counts of maintaining a dwelling for drug activity and possession of drug paraphernalia.  His secured bond was set at $50,000. 

 

  • Hunter Nethercutt, 21, of Greenville, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of being over the lawful age, aid and abet an underage person in consumption of an alcoholic beverage.  Nethercutt's secured bond was set at $35,000.

 

  • Douglas Palmer Clark III, 20, of Greenville, was charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for drug activity, and misdemeanor possession of Oxycodone.  His secured bond was set at $50,000.

 

  • Mario Angel Girau, 19, of Greenville, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling for drug activity.  Girau's secured bond was set at $35,000.   

 

  • Joseph Trent Coppersmith, 22, of Greenville, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for drug activity, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of sell and deliver controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a park.  Coppersmith's unsecured bond was set at $100,000. 

 

  • William Alexander Garner, 20, of Greenville, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of maintain a dwelling for drug activity and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.  His secured bond was set at $10,000.   

 

Coppersmith, Everhart, Sivulka are each listed as previously enrolled at East Carolina University. Garner, Girau, and Nethercutt are each listed as current students.

Lawmen said other arrests are pending in the investigation.
