NC NAACP to announce 15-county campaign at rally

RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina's top civil rights group is preparing another rally fresh off its most recent round of arrests at the General Assembly.

The state chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will hold a rally and candlelight vigil Tuesday evening outside the General Assembly to continue its campaign against the Republican-controlled legislature.

Chapter President the Rev. William Barber says the group will announce details of a 15-county tour of Republican lawmakers' districts.

The NAACP and other activists again protested Republican policies on social welfare programs, education and voting rights Monday at the General Assembly. More than two dozen were arrested, up from 17 the previous week.
