Railroad worker killed in NC mudslides

Posted: Updated:

Rain is being blamed for several mudslides in the North Carolina mountains.

A railroad worker was killed Monday while checking track conditions.

He was out with a co-worker inspecting the rails after a mudslide, when a second one came through, knocking their truck off the tracks.

The other worker called for help and was rescued.

A few more mudslides were reported in the area, closing some roads for hours.

Crews are still cleaning up.
