AG Cox student suspended after bringing weapon to class

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

A student at AG Cox Middle School is in trouble for bringing a weapon to class.

Deputies said when some students saw the 8th grade boy playing with a box cutter, they went straight to the principal.

Principal Tracy Cole then called the sheriff's office.

A spokesperson for Pitt County Schools said it was unclear if the boy threatened another classmate before bringing the box cutter to school.

He was suspended for at least 10 days. School officials are reviewing the case to see if they need to increase the suspension.
