HAMPTON, TN (WJHL) -

After being held captive with two other women for nearly a decade, Amanda Berry is finally getting to spend some quality time with her 6-year-old daughter at her sister's home.

Hundreds of journalists met her at the front door.

A similar situation for Amanda Berry's grandmother back home in Hampton, TN - who's still coming to terms with that her granddaughter is alive.

Ten years ago, Fern Gentry wrote in her bible when her granddaughter went missing. "Amanda went missing 1 day before her birthday on 4-21-2003," said Fern Gentry, "I didn't ever want to forget it and I wanted her back."

Now, she reflects on the time lost - time that was taken by her granddaughter's captors. "I don't want them to go to prison and see good days because that isn't what those girls saw for 10 years. They saw bad days and that's what I want for them," said Gentry.

Gentry says she tries to concentrate on the possibilities for the future. "I'd love to see her in this big green yard running and playing with the baby and me with them."

Gentry's family has been the center of a media frenzy following Amanda Berry's escape.

Earlier that day, Amanda's sister politely requested for the media to allow her family some privacy.

A situation no different for Gentry back home. "I am so sorry, I just can't do no more right now," said Gentry to a journalist calling on the phone, "I can hardly stand anymore. I just can't."

It's a small price to pay, says Gentry. "Things are going to be ok. It's going to be alright it's going to work out."

Gentry has at least one more line to write in her bible. "I'll have to put that in here when she arrives back home!"
