Posted: Updated:

If you get a speeding ticket, you may not have to take off work anymore to handle it court.

Pitt County is starting up an after-hours traffic court system, where you can handle minor violations in minutes.

"I just felt like we had to try something new," explained District Attorney Kimberly Robb, "Hopefully it will lessen the court dockets and it will be more convenient for the people coming in on Thursday nights."

On Thursday nights from 5pm to 8pm you have a chance to handle your minor driving violations without even stepping foot in a court room

"We can take care of any traffic tickets, seatbelt violations, expired registration, no operator licenses charges, anything that is a minor traffic violation were happy to help the public," said Robb.

It's all run by Robb and other assistant district attorneys volunteering their time.

The goal is to try and lighten the load of the traffic court throughout the week.

Since the rest of the courthouse it closed, you will probably have to come back to pay your fines, or you can pay online. After that, for most cases, you're done.

Customers say it's convenient because the lines are much shorter and there are plenty more parking spots.

Robb says make sure you bring your ticket with you when you come.
