KINSTON, N.C. -

The teenage years can be tough with high school and growing up there's a lot going on; but, one event in the East hopes to make it all a little easier to manage.

Dozens of teens enjoyed a day of fun and learning at Lenoir Community College.

It's all part of the Teenfest in Lenoir County. The event is sponsored by the Young Women's Outreach Center.

The annual Teenfest features workshops on self esteem, sex education and prevention, and self worth.

Executive Director of YWOC, Joyce Clarke, says it's about showing teens they have options.

"This is very important to get the message across to our kids about there is a better way, and we want to take them to that higher level by doing the right thing," said Clarke.

This is YWOC's 20th year holding Teenfest.
