BRANDON FL (WFLA) -

Patrons of a restaurant in Brandon had to evacuate in the middle of the Mother's Day dinner Sunday because of a fire.

Fire crews responded to Bucca Di Beppo on Causeway Boulevard around 8 p.m. Firefighters said they saw smoke coming from the roof when they arrived.

A smoke alarm went  off prompting the evacuation of the staff and customers.

"We came outside and the building was catching fire from the side and smoke was coming from the roof," Raquel Burt, a customer at the restaurant said. "It was really scary."

Firefighters found flames burning inside a wall and put them out. No one was hurt.

Officials are investigating what may have caused the fire.
